Emmanuel, God On Me

Plaster me in your blood.
Like the lintel over the door at Passover.
I need Your life blood covering me.
I feel the angel of death breathing down my neck.
Only if I’m streaked with Your blood, can I live.
Emmanuel, God on me.
Spit on the dirt and wipe my eyes with the mud.
Like You did for the blind man in Mark Eight.
I’m shortsighted and in need of Heaven eyes.
I feel the darkness pinching out the light.
Only if You daub my eyes will I truly see.
Emmanuel, God on me.
Take anointing oil and pour it over me.
Let it grease every part of me inside and out.
I’m cracked and dry and in need of lubrication.
I feel Adam’s dust choking out Your life.
Only if Your oil slathers me can I be free.
Emmanuel, God on me.
Baptize me in Your love.
Like John at the Jordan, immerse me.
I’m in need of repentance, a change of mind.
I feel fear surrounding me lying in my ear.
Only Your perfect love can unshackle me.
Emmanuel, God on me.
