Why do I want to direct,
create, and produce
the cross You have for me?
Oh, it's too much,
then it's too rough,
now it's too long,
and it's too strong.
I complicate it to the
point of distraction!
As in all things what You desire
is that I simply come and come simply.
Troubles, hidden, or raw in the wind,
allow the hidden cross
You planted in the heart of me
to work.
Like an antidote to a lethal poison,
slowly, through suffering,
the work of the cross overcomes
the old nature.
