"Dear one, be constant, persevere. Your soul will prosper." Molinos
Molinos encourages his reader to persevere in prayer through the dry darkness of desert places. He offers hope that the days of confusion will end if we just press on in faith.
He describes the gift of perseverence as:
developing a weariness toward the things of this world
desires toward unhealthy pleasures losing strength
desire for things of God increasing
developing internal warning system when choosing wrong
despising the sin nature
resolving to abide in His presence
inner peace
confidence in God's sovereignty
Of course this is not a quick fix. This is a life long pursuit. That's why it's called perseverance.
As in the natural world, when we plant a garden in spring, we see the fruit in the seed. So in the spiritual world, as we persevere in our pursuit of God, we look to see the fruit of the spirit in the first plantings of our faith.
Dear one, be constant, persevere. Your soul will prosper.
