"By following your spirit, every encounter you have with the Lord is a perfect one." Guyon
Reading the Bible is Level One in hearing the voice of God. But just because it's Level One doesn't mean it isn't powerful. God meets us where we're at. Then it's our choice to follow Him deeper or remain.
For example, when reading the Bible do you ever experience God's presence descend on you?
What is your response?
Do you keep reading because you have so many verses left to meet your goal?
Guyon suggests we stop and listen. God is there to draw you deeper. He's there to teach you of Himself, to reveal His heart to you.
She says, "You will be attracted to silence."
In other words, God is addicting. Hearing Him, feeling His presence, and being with God in a deep intimate way, brings such peace that we come away wanting more.
Guyon also teaches, "it is wisest for you to stay away from any set form, or pattern, or way. Instead, be wholly given up to the leading of the Holy Spirit."
The pages of scripture are saturated in Holy Spirit. Reading the World is a wonderful doorway to God.
Living Word
Not ink on paper
So much more: Incarnate
Speak to me
I long for life
True life: Incorruptible
Draw me deep
Out of myself
To Yourself: Eternal
Let me drink
Great draughts of You
Fused with me: Emmanuel
