"Become the bee who penetrates into the depths of the flower. Plunge deeply within to remove its deepest nectar." Guyon

Jeanne Guyon lays out before her reader a method of prayer called Praying the Scripture.

  1. Choose a simple practical passage

  2. Come quietly before the Lord

  3. Carefully read a small portion

  4. Taste it; digest it as you read

  5. Sense the heart of the portion

  6. Turn it into prayer

"After you have sensed something of the passage and after you know that the essence of the portion has been extracted and all the deeper sense of it is gone, then, very slowly, gently, and in a calm manner begin to read the next portion."

This method is not for scholarly study but to mine the depths of the word. It is not quickly skimming, as a bee over the tops of the flower, but rather like the bee who lands and extracts the deep nectar.

the Word of God

many layered

faceted

complex

but palatable

is not fast food

if quickly devoured

it will fill

the soul and mind

but Jesus

always has

the Heart

in view as

His Prize

like Mary I sit

at His feet

unhurried

I wait

for just one

Word of Life

fragrant

Revelation

penetrates

the depths of

my Spirit
