"Remember it is tranquility which repels wandering thoughts and temptations." Molinos

Have you ever, as an act of faith, in prayer, surrendered yourself into God's hands?

Molinos encourages us to then rest in the presence.

But wandering thoughts seek to invade and displace us. When this happens we often respond by repeating the surrendering prayer. Molinos calls this fussing.

Again he encourages us to wait and rest quietly in God's presence. He says,

Let me illustrate. If you have given a precious jewel to a dear friend, once it has been given to him, it is not necessary for you to repeat, "I give you this jewel, I give you this jewel." Do not labour in constantly reminding the Lord of your commitment and resignation to Him. Stand in His presence and remain there with tranquility."

My heart was stone

Rough cut bone

By Your blood

You bought it

With great care

You smoothed it here

Trimmed the edges

Polished it

Now it's a jewel

Refined by Your tools

Beauty to hold

Purest gold

Take it my King

I yield everything

In Your hands

Tranquil I stand

No need to fuss

No need to rush

I wait in our place

You are my Peace
