Inward Scatterings

"In the Internal Regions, walk and live ...You will not walk down this road very far before you discover that the most internal parts of you are scattered and active....God calls them together by faith and by silence.

Collect yourself in His presence with the one purpose and intent of loving Him."

Molinos

Collect yourself.

First, you have to recognize you are scattered inwardly. Outward scatterings: clutter, unfinished projects, or fractured relationships, for example, may reflect inward scattering. Take time to do an inward inventory. Where do you feel most scattered? Is it focus? Is it temptation? Is it destructive thoughts toward others or yourself? What is the cause of the unrest? You don't need the full answer. You just need the confession of feeling scattered.

In His presence.

Second, come to God. Come to Him and give yourself. Bring the inward scattered pieces of your life and lay them at His feet. He is not surprised, or annoyed, or disappointed in you. God is Love.

With one purpose

Here's the tricky part. You can't bring your agenda or excuses with the scattered things. Your one purpose is to come to God as a much loved child.

And intent Intent. Come vulnerably, honestly, openly, and with faith in His goodness and love.

Of loving Him.

Imagine a young child's favorite toy broke in the morning. They carry it around all day looking for Papa. Papa finally gets home. The delighted child toddles toward daddy dragging the toy behind. Then, as they get near Papa, the toy is dropped. Chubby, dimpled arms reach up. Papa lifts the child high, laughing and spinning around. Screams of delight mix with Papa's laughter. Finally, Papa stops spinning and gathers the child to his chest, his strong arms encircling his much loved child. The child sighs contently, snuggling into Papa's woodsy scent. The toy is forgotten.

Will Papa fix the toy? Does the child even have to ask?

Is Papa God as good and loving as this Father?

Yes, and even more than we can imagine.
