Make Solid Plans

"Don't spend your time making plans that are just cobwebs" Fenelon

Plans without purpose, structure, or accountability are flimsy and easily blown away by every wind of change. Plans that are born out of purely human ambition are little better. For plans to be viable they must line up with God's.

It's not as complicated as it seems. You don't need to be a mystic, monk or mindfulness master. You just have to willingly surrender your ideas to God's.

We are all born with certain passions, desires, quirks, gifts, talents, and interests. For instance, I've been horse crazy since I could think. No one in my family understood it. Or supported it. But it so indelibly saturated my soul I could never shake it.

Some called my passionate pursuit a waste. I was warned I'd never make a career out of it. I was also told horses were useless and only rich people had them. But I was not deterred.

I was a good student and when, at 18 and freshly graduated, I gave up a scholarship to university to go to 'Horse College', my parents weren't exactly impressed. But I dug in my heels.

I'll never forget the day I received the acceptance letter to a little Christian Horse College in Oregon. It was an offshoot of their Bible College. They also ran a Christian Summer Horse Camp. One line read:

"We believe God has placed the love of horses in some to be used for His glory. Whether it's through summer camps, community lessons, or just personal use, horses draw people."

I felt all my dreams, plans, and ambitions validated in that one letter. My plans lined up with God's. Or was it really God's plan all along?

Are you looking for God's plan for your life? Have you given up some childhood dreams because people convinced you there weren't profitable? Take some time to review your passions, dreams and child hood wishes. Bring them to Papa. Wait and hear what He has to say. Now dream again.
