"To rejoice in the midst of tribulation brings us near to God." Molinos

In the burst of summer's bounty we rarely take time to think of the coming winter. And so we shouldn't. We should enjoy the sun, the fruit, the ease. However, winter will come.

Life is full of cyclical seasons. And not just natural ones. Spiritual ones too. The full view of mountain top revelations will give way to cave like confusion. The God of the open heart can seem silently distant. I guess that's why our walk with Jesus requires faith.

Molinos encourages us to remember the God of promise, to hold on to the fact that God "takes the earthen and transforms it to the heavenly."

God will not lead us through more than we can bare. He never leaves us regardless of how it seems. He is faithfully taking everything and making it new.

When we lose a loved one we need this assurance more than ever. To grab hold of the hope that is in us, the hope of Glory, is to reach out from the drowning depths and find a strong hand.

Our loved one has already tasted transformation. They have shed the mortal and are clothed in immortality. There is not one ounce of doubt left. They do not remember the tribulation. They're surrounded in pure love.

Don't stop on the dusty road that runs through the seasons of the soul. Don't stop at winter, at death, and give into despair. Remain constant and quiet. Allow the waters of affliction to wash the dust of doubt off. God is waiting with His divine nature to strengthen and comfort. Winter will give place to Spring once again. Hold on.
